Moms tend to have very special relationships with their young kids.  I love nurturing this relationship with my daughter and having books that celebrate our relationship.  I know, what about dads?  Well, they have their month too :)  I'm sharing with you a list of books that celebrate moms that are perfect to encourage their bilingual journey.  Some of these books we have, others are on our to buy list.  Is your favorite one here?

8 Kid's Book sin English and Spanish that Celebrate Moms

1.  Quiero a mi Mama Porque (I Love my Mommy Because Eng/Span ed)

This was a favorite in our home when my daughter was younger.  Now that she is reading we use it to build her vocabulary.  I love the extensive vocabulary (38 words) to reference specific mom and baby animal in English and Spanish.  I had no idea a racoon was a "mapache" and an otter a "nutria" so even my Spanish vocabulary has improved.

Concept:  "This book begins with a heartwarming scene between a human parent and child, but moves on to loving care in many animal families. "She listens when I talk," says a mewing kitten. 2.  I Will Love You Forever / Te amaré por siempre (Bilingual) (Spanish and English Edition)

This is such an endearing book told from the heart and perfect to start building that mom and child relationship.  It's a must to start building your home library.

My daughter liked seeing the transition from baby to toddler when she was younger.

3. I'm Just Like My Mom / Me parezco tanto a mi mama (Spanish Edition)

I love this book because it's quite unique.  On the one side its a book that focuses on the relationship with mom and on the flip side it focuses on the relationship with dad.  It was written by journalist, Jorge Ramos, in his only children's book.  I was able to meet him and have him sign this book for my daughter, which made it extra special for her.

4.  Tortillitas para Mamá and Other Nursery Rhymes (Bilingual Edition in Spanish and English)

 I love Tortllitas para Mama because the visuals remind me of my trips to see my tias in the pueblos.  Some of the nursery rhymes are not familiar to me, but my daughter likes listening to them as the rhyming makes it more fun for her.

Are you my mother is a cute story about a bird looking for it's mother.  This book was gifted to me and I thought it was a cute gift.  I enjoy reading it so Victoria, my daughter can practice her Spanish.  I probably would not have bought it on my own but can appreciate it, I mean, we still have it after 5 years.

I can't wait to add this one to our library as this is for the older child.  I love that there is something for the older child as most mom books are for kids to about preschool age.  This not only pays tributes to moms but to the gives voice to different Latino authors from all over Latin-America.

7.  Te Amo, Bebe, Little One

Te Amo Bebe Little One has been one of my favorite books.  So much so that it's falling apart.  Even now at 6, my daughter loves the Spanglish rhyming and it helps her read easier.  This is such a sweet book and my daughter can identify with the subtle Latino/Hispanic nature of the book.

8.  Un Sillon Para Mi Mama

I don't know much about this book but it's on my list to get.  Having sold over a million copies it seams to resonate very well with readers.  The premise of the book is different from most books so I think that adds to and allows for deeper conversations.
